Joe Biden’s eight years as the vice president between 2009 and 2017 truly aided him in the political world. Being former President Obama’s right-hand man led Biden to earn the factor of name recognition, something which is helping him in his presidential campaign today, in spite of countless blunders.
Despite the name recognition which Biden has, there are still many members of the Democrat Party who are concerned about the frontrunner’s capability to take on President Trump in a general election. Even President Trump himself has declared that Biden isn’t playing with a full deck of cards.
Many Americans have noticed that when Biden is in the hot seat, or even attempting to promote himself, he mentions Obama a lot. Biden routinely talks about his service under the 44th president, so much so that he was called out for this during the second primary debate. Still, for as much as Biden loves to name drop Obama, Obama hasn’t come out to endorse Biden’s candidacy and it doesn’t look like he’s going to, either. The Daily Caller News Foundation has the full scoop on why Biden’s campaign will never get an endorsement from Obama.
What Obama Really Thinks of Biden
Despite the “bromance” which existed between Obama and Biden during the former’s presidency, the dynamics have shifted. The reality is that Obama never viewed Biden as a fit candidate to become the president of the United States. During the 2016 election, Biden pondered running, but ultimately Obama talked him down, alleging that Hillary Clinton would serve as a more formidable candidate. Then, earlier this year, the former president reportedly told Biden that he didn’t “have to do this.”
It’s very obvious from Biden’s multiple gaffes that he’s not truly of sound mind. Some of his many blunders include referring to Cory Booker as president during one of the debates, mistaking the years in which he served as vice president, and confusing the names of states which he’s given speeches in. Just yesterday, Biden was speaking and urged his audience to consider what America would be like if Obama were assassinated in 2008.
The Unspoken Truth
Many political pundits have come out and stated that Obama is afraid of Biden ruining his legacy. Furthermore, Biden’s campaign is all about reviving the Obama era, whereas Democrats of today are more interested in a radically progressive shift; this is abundantly obvious with leading 2020 hopefuls like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. Certain reports have also indicated that Obama believes Biden’s campaign staffers are too old and out of touch with the interests of modern-day Democrats.
Despite the frequency in which Biden loves to discuss Obama, Biden shouldn’t be expecting an endorsement from his former running mate anytime soon.
