In recent years, there’s been a growing push to allow non-US citizens to have voting rights in America. Supporters of this generally claim that passing these sorts of policies is more fair, equitable, etc. However, opponents are also making their stance on this loud and clear.
As many Americans have pointed out, the right to vote is reserved for US citizens. Laws that limit voting to US citizens exist so that each person’s vote is counted and not cancelled out by someone who doesn’t reside in this country.
In spite of this, various left-wing communities, such as New York City, Washington DC, and others, have pushed for people who are not American citizens to be able to vote in American elections.
Winooski, Vermont also followed this pattern, which is why it’s now being sued, as reported by Breitbart News.
A Closer Look at Legal Action Taken Against Winooski
The Vermont city, just in 2022, granted individuals from foreign countries the right to vote in various local races. Winooski is therefore facing a lawsuit from the Republican National Committee, the Vermont GOP, and two Winooski residents.
Each of the plaintiffs alleges that the actions of the Vermont city which permit foreign nationals to cast ballots in local elections are illegal. Winooski was likewise reminded in this lawsuit that the state of Vermont is the funding source for the local school board.

Each of the plaintiffs then stated that by extending voting rights to individuals from foreign countries, legal residents of Vermont will have their votes unfairly diluted.
These concerns have been echoed by other conservatives across the country who disagree with the path that Winooski has chosen to go down.
Will It Hold Up in Court?
Given the legal action taken against the Vermont city and the express claims made by the plaintiffs, the million-dollar question now deals with whether or not ordinances permitting votes from foreign nationals will hold up in court.
There is a very strong chance that the Vermont GOP and other Republicans involved in suing Winooski could ultimately walk away with the win. Though, either way, there’s no doubt that all eyes will be on this case.
I support a national law to ban the voting of illegal immigrants in any and all elections.
The fact that this needs to be said in 2023, and is supported by only 1 party shows how far we’ve fallen and how hell bent the left is on destroying our society

The outcome will very likely determine whether or not other communities across America pursue action that permits non-residents to vote in US elections.
Republicans have also pointed out that campaigns to extend voting rights to non-US citizens explain the left wing’s heavy push for both illegal immigration and amnesty.
At the end of the day, time will reveal how this all plays out. This article appeared in New Vision News and has been published here with permission.
