Um, What? Pelosi Tries To Argue Illegals Should Be Able to Vote…Using a Reagan Quote?

Last week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke about “newcomers” in America and shared her views on why she believes illegal immigrants ought to have the right to vote.
Pelosi delivered her remarks during a press conference in Austin, Texas and seemingly attempted to appeal to conservatives by quoting Ronald Reagan, reports Townhall.

Reviewing Pelosi’s Statements

Like many Democrats, the House Speaker does not seem to understand why allowing illegal immigrants to vote is un-American and absolutely counterintuitive. Pelosi’s lack of comprehension on this matter was evidenced during her remarks in Austin.
In her own words:

“Newcomers make America more American. And we want them, when they come here, to be fully part of our system. And that means not suppressing the vote of our newcomers to America.”

When Pelosi says “newcomers,” she is referring to illegal immigrants. That’s right; if the Democrats had their way, illegal immigrants would have nothing stopping them from voting in this country, despite them breaking our laws and sneaking across the border.

“Ronald Reagan said this: ‘This is the last speech I will make as President of the United States and I have a message I want to communicate to the country I love.’ He went on to talk about the Statue of Liberty, what it means to the world and that beacon of hope, what it means to people who have come here and seen that statue to welcome them: our ancestors, our parents, our grandparents.”

Pelosi then proceeded to quote Raegan’s previous remarks on immigrants. Of course, Pelosi also failed to make the distinction between legal immigrants and illegal immigrants:

“He went on to say, though, after talking about the Statue of Liberty: ‘The vital force of America’s preeminence in the world is every new generation of immigrants who come to our country. And when America fails to recognize that as our vital force, America will fail to be preeminent in the world.'”

America and Immigrants

Of course, America is a nation of immigrants, but we are a nation of LEGAL immigrants, not illegal immigrants. This is something which Pelosi and the Democrats miss each time. Illegal immigrants have no right to be in the United States of America.
If they wish to live in this country, they have to follow the immigration laws and come here lawfully. Pelosi can quote Ronald Raegan until she turns blue in the face, but America will never be a nation which allows illegal immigrants to have a say in our elections.
