Tulsi Gabbard on Impeachment: It Will “Further Embolden” Trump

Earlier this month, 2020 Democrat and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard voted present on both impeachment articles which the House brought against President Trump. This decision caused Gabbard to take flak from members of her party who believed that Democrats ought to all be united in their crusade to impeach the president.

Since voting present, the combat veteran hasn’t hesitated to speak out on the matter. In the wake of backlash from other Democrats, Gabbard explained that her vote wasn’t one of passivity, but an active protest against hyperpartisan politics.

On Saturday, Gabbard sat down with ABC News for an interview in New Hampshire. The 2020 Democrat further explained the reasoning behind her ‘present’ vote and how she believes impeachment will impact President Trump.

An Analysis of Gabbard’s Thoughts on Trump and Impeachment

Many Democrats have expressed the belief that impeachment is the only way to remove President Trump from office; however, Gabbard has a different outlook on this matter. Per the 2020 Democrat’s own admission, she maintains that impeachment will have the opposite impact and actually “further embolden” the president.

Gabbard additionally professed that impeachment will increase Trump’s chances of being re-elected, further his support, and cause Democrats to lose more seats in the House. According to the 2020 candidate, she has “serious concerns” about the prospect of Trump winning a second term in office and Republicans regaining control of the House.

Towards the end of her interview, Gabbard also stated that the “ability to move forward together” and “standing up for” Americans is more important than voting in a manner which is “politically advantageous” for herself or the Democrat Party.

Backlash from the Democrat Party

In the wake of Gabbard’s latest interview this weekend, certain leftists have already taken to social media to express disagreements with her. Overall, Democrats remain bound and determined to continue their impeachment sham.

Throughout Gabbard’s time as a presidential candidate, she’s managed to appeal to more moderate Democrats; the 2020 candidate has even earned accolades from certain folks on the right, with President Trump himself stating that he respects Gabbard.
