Tulsi Gabbard Affirms Support for Border Security

The vast majority of Democrats are all for open borders. There was a time when the left tried to deny this and claim that “common sense” action at the Southern border is the best course of action. However, those who support open borders and mass immigration at will are no longer hiding in.

In the 2020 presidential election, multiple Democrats have called for the decriminalization of illegal border crossings altogether. Progressives with this poor foresight and attitude also maintain that protecting the United States’ borders is evil and xenophobic.

As unbelievable as it may seem, there is one 2020 Democrat who does not support open borders. Tulsi Gabbard recently sat down for an interview with The Rubin Report’s Dave Rubin, as documented by Breitbart News. During this time, Gabbard affirmed that she believes border security is imperative for maintaining a country.

Reviewing Gabbard’s Remarks on Border Security

When speaking with Rubin, Gabbard regularly noted her experience as a solider and explained that she assesses matters from a “practical, objective-oriented standpoint.” The 2020 hopeful furthermore conceded that many of her in-party competitors’ stances on immigration are “essentially open borders,” despite their claims to the contrary.

Shortly thereafter, Gabbard affirmed her stance on the matter of border security. Her precise remarks read as follows:

“I don’t support open borders. Without secure borders, we don’t really have a country. […] We’ve got to have secure borders. This is not Trump’s wall from sea to shining sea. It’s about seeing again what makes sense. […] So I look at, secure the borders, what’s our objective. In some places, it may make the most sense to have a wall or some kind of other physical barriers in place; in other places, it won’t make sense.”

Breaking from the Open Borders Narrative

Gabbard’s stance on the importance of border security in America certainly breaks from a very prevalent narrative within her party. It’s truly unfortunate that Gabbard’s position on border security isn’t more popular in the Democrat Party; although since the election of President Trump (whose campaign largely focused on restoring legal immigration), Democrats have made it their mission to go as far to the left as possible in order to stick it to the president.

Whenever the left faces censure for policies which are about as far out there as it gets, they immediately respond with accusations of racism, bigotry, or some other buzzword. This has ultimately resulted in Democrats rejecting the few reasonable voices within their ranks and choosing to promote, embrace, nominate and elect socialists, radicals, and extremists.
