Trump's Legal Team Addresses Impeachment Sham

As impeachment proceedings carry out, President Trump’s team of lawyers has been addressing certain matters behind the scenes.

While the president’s lawyers do their job, Trump himself remains focused on delivering more and more results to Americans. Some of the most recent developments include, but are certainly not limited to, the new trade deal between the United States and China, along with the recently-passed USMCA deal. Moreover, since the Trump presidency, jobs have increased, unemployment has stagnated, and the stock market is at record highs.

Desperate to end Trump’s presidency and sabotage his chances at re-election, House Democrats forced bogus impeachment articles through their chamber. In these articles, the left accuses Trump of abusing his power and obstructing justice. Democrats made these claims without a shred of supporting evidence; therefore, the president’s legal counsel is fighting back on his behalf.

New reports from Townhall document the recent response from the president’s team of attorneys.

The Statement from Trump’s Lawyers

After House Democrats turned over to the Senate the weakest and thinnest impeachment articles, President Trump’s attorneys responded accordingly. Lead Trump lawyers Pat Cipollone and Jay Sekulow issued a blistering rebuttal, shining a bright light on the extent of Democrats’ corruption and unfounded vendetta against the president.

In a six-page response, Trump’s counsel hit House Democrats for carrying out a “dangerous attack” on Americans’ right to elect a president. The papers then go on to note the left’s interest in rewriting the 2016 election results and moreover ensuring that President Trump does not win a second term in office. Trump’s legal counsel also pointed out that the crusade to remove him from office began prior to his 2016 victory and remains to date.

Next, the formal response goes on to confirm the president’s denials of the impeachment articles’ assertions shortly after noting their inherent flaws. Citing them as “an affront to the Constitution of the United States,” Trump’s legal team also pointed out that the process of drafting articles was inherently “rigged.” As House Democrats forced through their sham, they did not even allow the Republican minority within their body to call forth their own witnesses.

Ultimately, President Trump’s lawyers urged the Senate to “reject” the Democrats’ impeachment sham and prevent Democrats from interfering with Americans’ “fundamental right to vote.”

Work with the Senate

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has indicated that he plans to work with President Trump’s team of lawyers throughout the impeachment trial. Predictably, Democrats have attempted to brand this work as a “cover-up,” but nothing could be further from the truth.

When leftist lawmakers scream that McConnell isn’t holding a fair trial, what they really mean is that he isn’t allowing the House to control the Senate. The Senate is well within their rights to hold their trial as they please, just as House Democrats rammed through their impeachment sham without any consideration of consensus from the body’s GOP minority.
