Trump Dares Pelosi To Formally Cancel State Of The Union

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump issued a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The letter served as a response to Pelosi’s previous request that Trump cancel the State of the Union address or submit it in writing due to the ongoing government shutdown, reports The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Reviewing President Trump’s Letter

The president of the United States issued the following letter to the current House Speaker:

Many readers of the above letter have interpreted it as President Trump “daring” Speaker Pelosi to call off his State of the Union address. Furthermore, other Americans have claimed that Pelosi’s previous citing of potential security concerns was merely a flimsy excuse.
Thus far, Pelosi has yet to issue a formal response to the president.

A Backstory

The controversy regarding the State of the Union address ties back to the government shutdown which has left hundreds of thousands of federal workers without their paychecks. This is a shutdown which Democrats have feigned moral outrage over while simultaneously rejecting an immigration compromise bill which President Trump recently put forth.
Democrat leaders do not truly care about federal workers; if they did, they would have accepted the president’s aforementioned compromise bill and reopened government. Instead, Pelosi and her colleagues have chosen to stonewall negotiations for effective border security.
While the State of the Union address is scheduled to go on as planned, there is still no apparent resolution in sight for the longest government shutdown in American history.
