For quite some time now, the United States has been forced to deal with massive caravans of migrants coming to this country and demanding asylum. Of course, illegal immigration has blended with this, thus ultimately exhausting the resources at the Southern border and placing great strains on Border Patrol officials. Still, Democrats want to allow everyone to pour in unchecked without any sort of screening or vetting. In recent weeks, progressives have even claimed that the United States government should sanction illegal immigration.
As a nation, America has our own issues to deal with. We have national debt in the trillions and insane socialists in Congress who are doing everything they can to run the lives of the American people.
To say that our nation has enough problems would be the understatements of the century. Simply put, we cannot allow just anyone to come across the border and enter into this country. The United States is not obligated to provide asylum to anyone, especially to people who try to sneak across the country when they are told no.
This is why the Trump administration has enacted limitations for migrants who wish to seek asylum in the United States, as documented by The Daily Caller News Foundation.
A Closer Look at Restrictions on Asylum Seekers
In a nutshell, migrants who wish to seek asylum in the United States must first seek refuge in the nations they cross on the way to America. This reform is actually very sensible and well-thought-out, seeing as migrants go through many countries where they could possibly find aid. Of course, those who fail to seek asylum in the countries which they first pass through will not be allowed to ask America for refuge.
Attorney General William Barr provided additional statements about the new restrictions on Monday:
“The United States is a generous country but is being completely overwhelmed by the burdens associated with apprehending and processing hundreds of thousands of aliens along the southern border. This Rule will decrease forum shopping by economic migrants and those who seek to exploit our asylum system to obtain entry to the United States.”
Outrage from the Radical Left
In their typical, predictable fashion, the left-wing is branding the aforementioned restrictions as racist and xenophobic. Various progressive activis groups are already vowing to challenge asylum limitations in courts.
Honestly, it’s really sad to see how far the Democrat Party has fallen. There was a time where the Democrats recognized that allowing any and everyone into the country isn’t reasonable or feasible. As they’ve embraced radicalism and progressives, Democrats have lost sight of some very fundamental realities.
Every person who is complaining about these latest restrictions from the Trump administration should personally take an asylum seeker into their own home. They should provide around the clock food, shelter, and care. Until progressives and Democrats are ready to do this, they ought to hold their tongues and stop trying to collectively shift the burden onto America.
