Teachers’ Unions Under Fire for Putting Politics Above Students

It is a very well-known fact that teachers’ unions in America are deeply aligned with the Democrat Party. Teachers’ unions are also infamous funders of left-wing politics and candidates, hence why Democrats like President Biden are so reluctant to irritate these groups.

During the pandemic, teachers’ unions have shown complete callousness and disregard for the adverse impacts that shutdowns and remote learning are having on kids. In fact, many members of these unions openly mock parents who want to send their kids back to schools.

Yesterday, Fox News covered just how much teachers’ unions have chosen to put politics above the wellbeing of students.

How Teachers’ Unions Continue to Harm Students

On Saturday, Jason Riley, a columnist for Wall Street Journal and Fox News contributor, discussed teachers’ unions in America. Riley remarked that some of the guidance issued by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is influenced by feedback from the American Federation of Teachers.

Riley furthermore stated that labor leaders and teachers’ unions, rather than science, are determining the actions of the Biden administration. Even to this day, significant swaths of students remain still out of classrooms. Meanwhile, teachers’ unions aren’t doing anything to change this; in fact, teachers’ unions are loving having kids out of schools.

Despite the very low susceptibility rate that children have for coronavirus, teachers’ unions still remain widely against school reopenings. Certain California-based teachers’ unions even had the gall to suggest that any pushes to reopen schools are fueled by sexism, racism, and classism.

Meanwhile, as teachers’ unions rally to keep the schools closed, they still believe these institutions should be funded by the federal government.

Putting Children Above Teachers’ Unions and Politics

At this point, the need to get children back into classrooms couldn’t be more apparent. Teachers’ unions should not be authorized to keep holding up this process indefinitely.

Keeping kids out of classrooms only hurts their development, educationally and socially; moreover, parents are also strained by shutdown schools. Teachers’ unions, for all their talk about health and safety, have consistently ignored the dangerous consequences of ongoingly closed classrooms.

The Biden administration is currently under fire from Republicans for allowing teachers’ unions to call the shots on when schools reopen.
