Unfortunately, we have regressed to a point in society where child exploitation is acceptable under the guise of tolerance. Over the course of this month, various Americans have expressed concerns about an 11-year-boy who dressed up in drag clothing at a Brooklyn bar and danced provocatively while adults tossed dollar bills at him.
The ‘3 Dollar Bill’ Situation
On December 1, 11-year-old Desmond Napoles donned a crop top, a bright blonde wig, and tons of makeup during his time at the 21-and-up, ‘3 Dollar Bill’ gay bar in Brooklyn, New York. While this might seem disturbing enough, in and of itself, the story gets worse. Adult men cheered and videotaped Desmond while he danced in a sexual manner which is certainly not fitting for a prepubescent child.
Although certain participants of the event did supposedly end up leaving, it appears as though attendees who saw no issue with the display outweigh their more level-headed counterparts.
Furthermore, Eventbrite, an event management site, actually PROMOTED the display.
“Only in New York… a nightclub that makes you go WHOA!!! FEATURING: Upcoming Legend from Television and the Runway: DESMOND IS AMAZING!!! PERFORMING LIVE! … This stage, this dance floor, this house… is ours as long as we protect it.”
Thankfully, there are still some people in this world who understand that children should be just that…..children. A percentage of individuals who attended the event detailed their horror and disturbances on Yelp.
One comment reads as follows:
“I left after seeing a child dance on stage for money at nighttime. This was on Saturday night and I have been feeling disturbed ever since.”
The Paradox of Tolerance
In the current age of political correctness, preachings of ‘tolerance’ and acceptance for all are central themes. While these calls may be initially well-intentioned, like anything else, when taken to extremes, they can become very dark very quickly.
The truth of the matter is that there are some things in this world which should not be tolerated. Allowing an 11-year-old child to gyrate and grind on stage while grown men throw money at him just so happens to fall into this category.
Pedophilia, is by definition, the condition of being attracted to prepubescent children. Desmond Napoles is a prepubescent child. Quite frankly, the individuals who saw fit to attend this event and throw money at an 11-year-old ought to be looked into.
