Pence Calls for Bipartisanship in Wake of Texas Shootings

On Saturday, a gunman opened fire in a variety of locations in Odessa and Midland, Texas. As a result of his senseless, cruel actions, five individuals died and 24 others sustained critical injuries, including three members of law enforcement. The shooter ultimately met his maker when he perished in a movie theater during a shoot-out with law enforcment officers.

Since the Texas shootings, the Democrats have predictably rushed into calling for more gun control, vilifying conservatives, and pointing fingers at the NRA. The NRA is the only organization in America to be consistently blamed for crimes which it has absolutely nothing to do with.

Thankfully, Vice President Mike Pence actually took the constructive, high road in the wake of yesterday’s shooting. Breitbart News reports Pence’s statements calling for the end of “mass atrocity” in America and the beginning of bipartisanship and unity. The vice president furthermore explained that he and President Trump maintain the willingness to work with both Republicans and Democrats in order to find real solutions.

Reviewing Pence’s Statements on Unity and Bipartisanship

Earlier this morning, Pence spoke with the press about the shootings which took place in Texas yesterday. The vice president noted the current administration’s empathy for involved persons whilst simultaneously affirming President Trump’s work with members of law enforcement. Pence’s precise statements on the matter read as follows:

“Our hearts go out to all the victims and families who had loved ones lose their lives. We commend the law enforcement in Odessa for their swift and courageous response, but at the president’s direction we’ve deployed the full resources of the federal government. They’re on site. The president spoke to the attorney general. The FBI is already assisting local law enforcement in the investigation going forward.”

Pence then noted that the Trump administration is determined to “work with leaders in both parties in Congress to take steps that we can address and confront this scourge of mass atrocity in our country.”

Will the Democrats Meet the Trump Administration Halfway?

Unity and bipartisanship are noble goals, but it’s ultimately a two-way street. Whether or not congressional Democrats will be able to put aside other differences and work with the Trump administration presently remains to be seen. Thus far, all that most congressional Democrats have done is attempt to draft useless impeachment articles and dig through Trump’s financial documents.

2020 Democrats predictably followed the typical left-wing trend of calling for counterintuitive gun control measures before details of the Texas shooting even broke. Only time will tell whether or not leaders within the Democrat Party ever work with the Trump administration on stopping various atrocities across this nation.
