Ocasio-Cortez Offends Veterans after Bashing Trump

House Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is taking some heat after bashing the president of the United States. The newly elected congresswoman recently attended a foreign policy meeting on Wednesday where many veterans were in attendance; however, as reported by Fox News, Ocasio-Cortez’s comments on policy and President Trump turned off many of her listeners.

What Happened?

During Ocasio-Cortez’s attendance at the aforementioned meeting, she made comments which many regarded as unfavorable. Her statements included the censure of Saudi Arabia receiving bombs from the United States. The freshman congresswoman furthermore branded President Trump and the Israeli Prime Minister as “aurocrats.”

At this point, veterans in the meeting walked out. One attendee said he was “revolted,” while Silvio Mazzella, a Vietnam War vet, stated that Ocasio-Cortez’s remarks failed to align with the values of America.

In his own words:

“She knocks the country, she knocks the president…and that’s not what America is about.”

Another veteran in attendance explained that he simply “couldn’t take [Ocasio-Cortez’s] BS anymore.”

A Time and a Place

As the age-old saying goes, there is a time and a place for everything. Anyone who knows of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez knows that she is no fan of the president. However, there is still an appropriate time to articulate that and the congresswoman clearly missed the mark.

Not every veteran hates Trump and furthermore, not every veteran is interested in hearing how much Ocasio-Cortez hates the president. She should have been aware of that going into the meeting.

In light of the damage which has been done, Ocasio-Cortez’s team is trying to minimize the blowback, but it’s too little too late.
