Since former President Trump’s entry into the spotlight, attention to his business deals has surged.
During Trump’s time as president, his political adversaries worked relentlessly to access his tax returns and otherwise gain access to his finances. Democrats railed against Trump for failing to release his tax returns; however, the then-president maintained that due to being under an IRS audit, his attorneys advised him against publicizing his tax returns.
Trump’s departure from the White House has not stopped the push to get into his finances, though. As a matter of fact, the former president’s political foes are working harder than ever to dig up information.
Now, Newsmax reports that the state of New York is launching a criminal investigation into the Trump Organization.
A Closer Look at the Probe into the Trump Organization
On Tuesday, the attorney general office of New York announced its investigation into the Trump Organization.
According to a spokesperson for New York Attorney General Letitia James, the probe into the Trump Organization is criminal and not just civil; the spokesperson then noted that the Manhattan attorney general is probing the Trump Organization in a similar manner. It’s important to note that the attorney generals for New York and Manhattan are each Democrats.

Right now, the matters of the aforementioned investigations include bank fraud, insurance fraud, and tax evasion. The news of this investigation spread across social media on Tuesday night with “Ivanka,” “Eric Trump,” and “Manhattan” trending on Twitter this morning.
The Response from the Trump Family
The Trump family continues to maintain their innocence and has hired a criminal defense attorney for representation.
Former President Trump himself is not staying silent about the criminal probe into his organization. Trump maintains that this all boils down to a “political witch hunt” and lacks any merit or truth.
Another significant point: NY AG is working in cooperation with NY DA. They must be bringing something to the table with respect to the Trump Organization b/c normally the NY DA goes its own (criminal) way. And the offices have different styles.

The children of the 45th president have similar statements as well. Former first son Eric Trump slammed the Manhattan and New York investigations as a result of hatred towards his father. The former first son also noted the New York attorney general’s prior vow to “take down” former President Trump.
Former first daughter Ivanka Trump also stated that the probe into the Trump Organization lacks merit. According to Trump, the investigation is nothing more than a “political vendetta” and “fishing expedition.”

Since the announcement of the criminal probe into the Trump Organization, the New York and Manhattan attorney generals haven’t released any more public statements.
