This week, former President Trump is being arraigned, following an indictment that fell down last week. Trump’s current legal woes stem from a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels that was supposed to keep her quiet about an alleged affair.
Trump denies ever having engaged in an affair with Daniels. Nevertheless, his latest legal problems still pertain to this payment being made in breach of campaign finance laws.
Though amid Trump’s problems, a new spotlight has emerged as Americans raise questions about payments that Hillary Clinton’s campaign made during her time as a presidential candidate, per The Federalist.
An Objective Look at the Situation
During Clinton’s presidential campaign, she paid for a Russian dossier that was later used to bring up dirt on Trump.
The dossier turned out to be baseless. Moreover, Clinton didn’t find herself indicted over using campaign money to make this payment; the only penalty she faced as a consequence was a fine.

Trump cannot say the same. Therefore, many of the former president’s supporters have a bone to pick. They’ve warned that America is now looking more and more like a banana republic, where different rules apply to different people.
Like Trump, much of his base also continues to warn that what’s happening to him is not a legitimate legal case, but political persecution masquerading as lawfulness.
What Comes Next For Trump?
At this point, Americans will have to see what Trump will be facing next.
Despite being indicted over the Stormy Daniels payment, there’s also a possibility that additional legal charges could be pressed pertaining to documents at his Mar-a-Lago residence and other matters.

For right now, though, the focus is on the payment made to Daniels, which the Manhattan district attorney appears to be treating as a felony. Some speculations project that Trump could be looking at a gag order which bars him from publicly discussing this matter.
