Mike Bloomberg Sued For Not Paying Employees

Whenever Democrats seek public office, especially the presidency, they do all that’s possible to brand themselves as fighters for working Americans.

The nation has witnessed this time and time again, despite the fact that Democrats’ fiscal policies actually hurt U.S. workers and leave them most vulnerable. If leftists truly cared about working people as much as they claimed, the Democrat Party would be in favor of lower taxes, minimal government intervention, and letting people keep the money they earn; however, these fiscal positions are the antithesis of where Democrats stand.

If there were ever any doubt about Democrats’ lack of care for workers, the lawsuit that unsuccessful presidential hopeful Mike Bloomberg is facing should erase it. Fox News reports that Bloomberg is facing legal trouble after failing to pay his campaign employees through November 2020 as he once committed to.

A Closer Look at the Lawsuit Against Bloomberg

Donna Wood, a former field organizer who previously worked on Bloomberg’s 2020 campaign, filed a class-action lawsuit in Manhattan federal court yesterday.

In her complaint, Wood notes that the failed presidential candidate vowed to provide healthcare benefits and payments throughout the 2020 election regardless of its outcome. However, Bloomberg did not follow through on his commitment; instead, the former mayor simply fired all his campaign workers after dropping out of the race post-Super Tuesday. Since Wood and other Bloomberg former campaign staffers left other jobs to work for his campaign, they’re now in quite a bind.

Additional factors in the complaint include allegations that Bloomberg’s campaign wrongly, yet intentionally, listed his field organizers as untitled to overtime pay, despite working more than 40 hours per week. Despite the listed exemptions within the Fair Labor Standards Act, Wood maintains that she and other field organizers do not qualify for these exemptions.

Silence from the Left

If President Trump were facing a class-action lawsuit for failing to pay campaign staffers as promised, the left would absolutely lose their minds. It would make national news and Democrats would never shut up about it. Right now, however, the left is completely silent as Bloomberg faces legal peril for ignoring the working Americans his party claims to care for.

What happened to Democrats’ supposed concern for the working-class and working families? If Democrats really cared about workers, they’d be absolutely outraged and calling on Mike Bloomberg to pay his employees, as he promised to do regardless of election results.

Do you believe Mike Bloomberg will wind up having to pay his former campaign staffers and cover their healthcare benefits through November 2020 as he promised? What do you think will come of the class-action lawsuit against him? Let us know in the comments section below!
