The state of Michigan, unfortunately, continued to suffer due to the ineffective leadership of Governor Gretchen Whitmer, a left-wing Democrat.
Since 2020, Whitmer has chosen to implement one draconian restriction after the other. This goes beyond travel restrictions and mask mandates; at one point, the Michigan governor even ordered stores to tape off “non-essential” goods in their facilities to bar customers from purchasing them.
One year later, the Michigan governor still has not learned. In fact, her state dominates the nation in new COVID-19 cases and in hospitalizations. This, in and of itself, demonstrates the ineffectiveness of lockdowns and other mandates, but this doesn’t matter to Whitmer.
Not too long ago, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services mandated that 2 to 4-year-olds wear face coverings. Now, daycares are pushing back against this, as Breitbart News reports.
The Problem with Making Toddlers Wear Masks
Michigan daycare centers are speaking out against mandates for 2 to 4-year-olds to mask up.
The owner of the Lansing-based Small Folks Development Center stated that having such young children wear face coverings is “very challenging” and difficult; daycares are also stating that kids of this age have a hard time understanding mask-wearing and keeping the mask on.

Meanwhile, Michigan’s health department has described the forced masking of toddlers as a “good faith” effort to put a stop to the spread of coronavirus. Thus far, the order requiring toddlers to wear masks is set to end on May 25; however, it would not be a shock if the health department chose to extend the order beyond this point.
More Trouble Ahead for Michigan
Sadly for Michiganders, the trouble in their state is far from over. Last week, Whitmer openly discussed the prospect of shutting down Michigan for another six months. This also arrived around the same period that the CDC has called for the Wolverine State to shut down again.

Ultimately, there is no science in mandating small children to wear masks. In fact, real scientific studies into the COVID-19 virus show that children are nearly immune to it. This doesn’t matter to Whitmer and the health bureaucrats in Michigan, though.
Having toddlers wear masks is nothing more than a show of theater that creates the illusion of leaders taking actions to stop this virus.
