Michigan residents have lived under strict coronavirus order for quite some time now.

Gretchen Whitmer, the state’s Democrat governor, has repeatedly extended mandates; after she lost access to the emergency powers law, Whitmer began using the Michigan Health and Human Services Department as a means of forcing thorough her draconian mandates.

Governor Whitmer, like other Democrat state leaders, maintains that her edicts are about driving down coronavirus numbers and keeping people safe. However, the passing of time continues to reveal holes in this narrative.

Days ago, Whitmer landed in hot water after breaking her own COVID-19 orders; as Washington Examiner confirms, the Michigan governor has since issued an apology.

The Bar Scandal

The Michigan governor gathered with a group of friends at a bar in East Lansing last week, despite having restaurant seating orders in place. Whitmer’s gathering far exceeding the six person seating limit that currently exists in the Wolverine State.

Images of Whitmer with her friends at the bar quickly made their way across social media. Many questioned why it was OK for the Michigan governor to dine with her friends at a bar when other states residents are banned from doing so.

After loads of bad press, Whitmer finally released a statement. In this statement, she essentially stated that since she and all her friends are vaccinated, they didn’t think twice about the restaurant pulling tables together.

Whitmer also alleged in her public apology that she is a “human” who made an error.”

Not Good Enough Anymore?

The Michigan governor is far from the first Democrat to issue coronavirus restrictions and then breach them. What’s more is that Whitmer has harshly gone after residents of her own state who dared to push back against her orders; yet, when the Michigan governor herself doesn’t abide by restrictions, she’s only “human.”

Gavin Newsom, Deborah Birx, Anthony Fauci, Andrew Cuomo, etc., are just a few examples of other leaders to issue orders and then disregard them. Americans are fed up with the “rules for thee, but not for me” mindset. If the leaders behind these restrictions can’t be bothered to abide by them, why should anyone else?

The strongest proponents of coronavirus restrictions have demonized everyday Americans who pushed back or asked questions. Yet, the double standard maintains. All of this plays a role in why growing numbers of people are rejecting mandates and edicts; most folks are more than ready to get back to normal.
