Radically far-left progressives have officially hijacked the Democrat Party. This is the reality in 2019. The tone of the Democrat Party has been set by not only the candidates which are currently running in the 2020 presidential election, but also House Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib.
When the average American thinks of the Democrat Party, they think of a party of individuals who have called for a Green New Deal, abolishing the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), raising taxes on the middle class to sanction free healthcare for illegal immigrants and so much more.
The takeover of the Democrat Party has occurred at the chagrin of more moderate-leaning Democrats. As of late, many moderates have spoken out against the policies being promoted by their progressive counterparts. We’ve seen this with Speaker Nancy Pelosi attempting to rein in “The Squad” of political loose cannons; now, Americans are seeing it as various left-wing governors across the nation admit that they are petrified of the messages being peddled by 2020 Democrat hopefuls, reports The Daily Caller News Foundation.
The Horror of Democrat Governors Across America
During a Nantucket fundraising event, various left-wing governors spoke with the New York Times; their conversations regarded takes on progressive individuals who are currently running to become the next president of the United States. When asked about their thoughts, the leftist governors expressed concerns about the policies of Democrat candidates, namely on healthcare in the United States.
Gina Raimondo, governor of Rhode Island, shared the following statements this past weekend:
“I don’t think that’s good policy or good politics. We cannot become the party of the checklist.”
New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham expressed similar sentiments, stating that talk of booting Americans off of their private healthcare “scares people.” Additional Democrat governors have articulated worries that their presidential candidates are simply too far left on other issues, such as immigration.
Too Little, Too Late
It appears as though only now are Democrats beginning to realize that the progressive extremists within their party aren’t doing them any favors. Where were the so-called moderates when these progressives were worming their way into power? Where was Nancy Pelosi when members of the current congressional “Squad” were running for office? The silence was deafening.
The truth of the matter is that moderates in the Democrat Party sat back and did nothing while progressives ascended to power. Now that progressives are running amok, moderates are trying to rein them in, but it’s too late for that. Democrats made their bed and now they’re going to have to lie in it.
At this point in the game, there is no stopping the inevitable. The Democrat Party will continue to sink. Progressives will be their own undoing as they move further and further to the left for the sake of “resisting” Trump.
