As the 2020 presidential election gets closer and closer, various candidates are openly speaking about their ideas and the directions which they think will be best for the country.
On Saturday, Democrat candidate Kamala Harris stated that right-to-work laws ought to be banned, as documented by Fox News.
Harris on Right-to-Work Laws in America
According to Kamala Harris, right-to-work laws are harmful to the rights of working people in America. The 2020 contender also stated that it’s become harder for workers to gather together and strike.
In Harris’ own words:
“The barriers to organized labor being able to organize and strike are something that have grown over a period of time. […] It has to be about, for example, banning right-to-work laws.”

Right-to-work laws are currently getting new attention. States like Virginia and Michigan have yet to decide whether or not they will do away with right-to-work laws; as of now, they permit workers to avoid paying union fees or joining a union. If right-to-work laws were banned as Harris is calling for, workers would lose the aforementioned permissions. This likely wouldn’t sit well with workers who are pleased with not being mandated to join a union and pay subsequent fees.
The Pitfalls of Big Government
Democrats have a pension for big government. This is more than apparent in virtually all of their policies and the changes which they want to see in America. While conservatives believe that less government is better, progressives believe that more government is better. The problem with more government is that what government can give, government can also take away.
At the end of the day, a stabler, brighter America ultimately boils down to giving people the freedom and autonomy to make life better for themselves…and in order for this to happen, government should be so small that one can barely see it.
