Rep. Ilhan Omar is back in the news…unfortunately. After previously dismissing 9/11 as “some people did something” and making a slew of anti-Semitic remarks, Omar isn’t done.
This time, the congresswoman shared her thoughts on journalists and her disdain for “a lot of the kind of journalism,” as documented by The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Omar on Journalists in America
Yesterday, Omar sat down for an interview with the Nation’s Next Left podcast. During her time on air, the congresswoman noted that her “distaste” for U.S. journalism stems back to her days of childhood.
In Omar’s own words:
“I think I was aware of all of it actually quite young. You know, this is, this is — again, goes to my distaste for a lot of the kind of journalism we have here in the United States these days. I grew up really being glued to the news. Listening to BBC was very much part of my day-to-day life, from, like, four to eight [years old] in the most ways that I can remember.”
Silence from the Democrats
The silence from the Democrats is deafening. Omar is not the only person to criticize journalists; as many people are aware, President Trump has been very outspoken regarding his thoughts about the media and fake news which is sometimes peddled by journalists.
The only difference is that Democrats jumped down President Trump’s throat whenever he’s so much as mentioned issues within the media. The left has done everything from accusing the president of attacking journalists to infringing upon freedom of the press. Why is Omar not getting the same feedback after her remarks about journalists in America?
Ultimately, Democrats aren’t truly concerned about whether or not journalists are criticized by politicians; the left-wing simply maintains a vested interest in protecting the members of their own party, whilst tearing down their political opposition, especially if it happens to be President Trump.
