In this year alone, Ilhan Omar has regularly remained in the press for her various anti-Semitic and anti-American statements.
The newly elected congresswoman has yet to deviate from this pattern. On Wednesday, Omar faulted the United States of America for the massive crisis which is currently underway in Venezuela, as documented by The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Reviewing Omar’s Statements
During an appearance on Democracy Now, Ilhan Omar didn’t hold back in expressing her ideas about why America is at fault for the current Venezuela crisis:
“You know, I mean, a lot of the policies that we have put in place has kind of helped lead the devastation in Venezuela. We’ve sort of set the stage for where we’re arriving today. This particular bullying and the use of sanctions to eventually intervene and make regime change really does not help the people of countries like Venezuela. It certainly does not help and is not in the interest of the United States.”
At this time, Venezuela is currently facing turmoil as they work to free themselves of a dictator who has caused great harm to their nation. This is an area where America has attempted to act as an ally and ensure Venezuela that they have support in this fight. However, if you let Omar tell it, this is “bullying” and harming both the United States and Venezuela.
What a sensible take.
The Bottom Line
At the end of the day, nobody should be surprised by the statements which were espoused by Ilhan Omar. This is a woman who has made her thoughts on America and our leaders very clear. It’s also important to keep in mind the fact that the policies which Omar and other Democrats support would end up with the United States in as perilous a position as Venezuela, if not worse.
