Governor Kemp Could End Up Winning the Georgia Primary Election

With roughly eight weeks ahead before the Georgia primary for the governor’s race ends, it’s been a dogfight, to say the least.

On the side of the Democrats, Stacey Abrams is pretty much a shoo-in for her party’s nomination. However, on the GOP side, Brian Kemp, the current Georgia governor, is duking it out with former Sen. David Perdue.

Perdue contends that Kemp’s leadership has been a failure and claims Kemp won’t be able to defeat Abrams for a second time.

The Georgia governor has largely refrained from directly attacking Perdue, but claims that his record of leadership makes him qualified for another term.

Despite Perdue having the endorsement of former President Trump, data out of Georgia shows Kemp leading his primary opponent, as covered by Breitbart News.

The Latest Georgia Governor’s Race Poll

According to a fresh Fox News survey, Kemp leads Perdue by 11 points amongst Republican voters in Georgia. Kemp carries 50% support, while the former senator is behind at 39%.

In another poll by Fox 5 Atlanta/InsiderAdvantage taken towards the end of last month, Kemp was also leading Perdue.

Both Kemp and Perdue have until May 24 before Georgia Republicans decide who should hold the party’s nomination and face Abrams.

Thus far, general election polls have shown that either Kemp or Perdue could defeat Abrams in November; however, Kemp is shown in these polls to defeat Abrams by a slightly bigger margin than Perdue.

Supporters of the former senator are confident he can close the current gap between himself and Kemp over the next two months.

Perdue, during this month alone, has a series of rallies scheduled with Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of former President Trump. The Trump family’s political star power has certainly been a factor in the Perdue gubernatorial campaign.

After the Primary Election

In the end, only one Republican can win the Georgia GOP primary election.

Once the primaries end, many Americans are hoping that Kemp and Perdue will unify as Republicans to ensure Stacey Abrams does not secure the governor’s mansion.

In light of the fact that the Georgia 2021 congressional runoffs went to Democrats, along with the state during the 2020 presidential election, this gubernatorial election will be very monumental for Georgia.

Due to the high-stakes nature of the governor’s race in the Peach State, it’s caught the attention of the nation.

If polls continue as they’ve been, there is a very high likelihood that Kemp will be the one to win the primary election, thus setting up a rematch between him and Abrams.
