Fox News and President Trump have historically maintained a great relationship with one another. The president is very friendly with several of their anchors including Sean Hannity, Jeanine Pirro, and others. However, Trump issued a stern scolding towards Fox News on Sunday. In a series of tweets, the president called out the news station for hiring Donna Brazile.
As many people are aware, Brazile previously served as the Democratic National Committee interim chair. That all came to an end when Brazile decided to leak debate questions to Hillary Clinton during the 2016 general election. Shortly thereafter, Brazile was let go from her position with the DNC. For some unfathomable reason, Fox News later chose to hire the former interim chair
Reviewing Trump’s Criticism of Fox News
In essence, the president stated that although Fox News may want Brazile on their payroll, Americans who tune into their network may not want to see her. This is a pretty fair assessment, in light of the ways which Brazile has chosen to involve herself in the political arena.
In Trump’s own words:
More on Donna Brazile
President Trump is not the only one who disapproves of Brazile’s employment with Fox News. Many other conservatives have taken issue with the matter and questioned Fox’s decision. Brazile has not evidenced any shifts in her political values or views since her job at the traditionally right-leaning news station. A quick view of Brazile’s Twitter feed shows that she is still very supportive of Democrat candidates.
Despite Fox News’ relationship with President Trump, the network has yet to openly respond to his criticism. Despite backlash from conservatives, Fox hasn’t chosen to let go of Brazile. At this point, it doesn’t look like this is going to be changing anytime soon.
