For quite some time, Florida has largely been regarded as a swing state or purple state. Florida voted for Obama and also for Trump. Due to the demographics of the Sunshine State, it generally hasn’t been seen as really red or blue; however, this is changing.
The leadership of Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis is certainly a factor in this. Amid COVID shutdowns and other tyrannical measures from the government, many Americans moved to Florida, desiring freedom over control.
It’s estimated, at this time, that anywhere from hundreds of thousands of people per day are moving to Florida. These numbers are also expected to maintain for quite some time.
As it turns out, though, the shift in residents moving to Florida is making the state redder. Newsmax confirms that Florida Republicans are set to outnumber Florida Democrats in voter registration numbers.
Florida, a Soon-to-be Reliably Red State?
At the end of last month, Democrats had only 23,055 more registered voters than Republicans. However, this is a number that’s been rapidly dwindling as time passes. To put the situation into perspective, in 2008, Democrats in Florida outweighed Republicans in Florida to the tune of 700,000.
Florida Republicans and conservative activists are hard at work to register more Republicans to vote. Flipping the state red and ensuring that Republican voters outweigh Democrat voters will mean a lot for Florida.
On #ConstitutionDay, we can reflect on how fortunate we are to have a written Constitution and must be wise to threats facing Constitutional government. As Benjamin Franklin said after the Constitution was created — we have a republic, if you can keep it. pic.twitter.com/OY9epmmx8f

It will significantly increase the likelihood of DeSantis winning re-election in the 2022 gubernatorial race. Furthermore, if the current trajectory continues, Florida will soon be able to be called a reliably red state, rather than a purple or swing state.
Panic from Florida Democrats
Democrats in the Sunshine State are not at all thrilled about the current trajectory of voter registration. Florida Democrats like Steve Schale have noted that there’s never been a time when Republican voters in the state outweighed Democrats.
Likewise, Schale also admits that Florida Republican voters tend to turn out more than their Democrat counterparts. It’s furthermore worth noting this shift is taking place right before the 2022 midterms.
Having more Republican voters than Democrats in Florida means that GOP lawmakers representing Florida in Congress are also most likely to keep their seats and ward off political challenges from Democrats.

The rise of Republican voters in Florida speaks volumes about the rejection of radical leftist leadership and the measures Democrats have embraced over the past almost two years now. Time will tell whether or not Florida Republicans are successfully able to cross the threshold and outweigh Democrats in voter registration numbers.
