Feud Heats Up Between Ocasio-Cortez and Kellyanne Conway

The fur has been flying in the high-profile political catfight between freshman Democratic representative, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway. AOC lashed out at Conway, who seemed to question Cortez’s faith, after she accused the rookie Congresswoman from NY of being silent about the Easter Bombings in Sri Lanka.
It all started when CNN political analyst, Julian Zelizer, initially tweeted that Conway had accused Ocasio-Cortez of not saying or tweeting anything about the Poway California synagogue shooting, which killed one during Sabbath services on Saturday, April 27.
However, Conway tweeted to correct Zelizer and say that what she was slamming Ocasio-Cortez for, was not about Poway, but for her [apparent] “silence about the Sri Lanka massacre of Christians (not Easter Worshippers” as Obama and Hillary oddly said). Try listening before spewing,” she reprimanded Zelizer.
Zelizer has since deleted his original tweet. However, that did not stop the freshman Congresswoman from blasting back at Conway. She tweeted, “On Easter, I was away from tech visiting my grandmother in Puerto Rico, which continues to suffer from the White House’s incompetent disaster response,” Ocasio-Cortez responded to Conway on Twitter. “Are you trying to imply that I am less Christian? What was the point of you bringing this up on national TV?”
Conway Attacks Ocasio-Cortez on the Air
Being the mini-pitbull for Trump that she is, Conway was defending President Trump’s remarks that there were “very fine people on both sides” about the “Unite the Right” rally in August 2017 on CNN’s “State of the Union,” — which were obviously in response to Joe Biden mentioning those words in his announcement to run — when she took the pot-shot at Ocasio-Cortez.
“I see officials who get a lot of airtime and ink, like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, congresswoman, who tweets many times about the mosque but never once about Sri Lanka,” Conway told host Jake Tapper.
She was referring to the attacks on mosques in New Zealand last month that killed 49 Muslims and to the series of explosions on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka that left nearly 300 Christians dead.
After the tweet about being in Puerto Rico at the time, and using that as an excuse to malign Trump’s response to Hurricane Maria, AOC continued to hit back at Conway by tweeting, ”You are using this as an excuse to stoke suspicion around my Christianity + faith life, @KellyannePolls.The Sri Lanka massacre was horrifying. No one should be targeted for their religion. If you’re so moved, let’s do more to welcome immigrants fleeing religious persecution.”
Ocasio-Cortez explained in another tweet why some used the term “Easter worshippers.”
“The terrorist attack in Sri Lanka was horrifying. Saying ‘Easter worshippers’ matters bc Easter is the holiest day of the year for Christians, & to be targeted on Easter highlights how heinous the attack was – just as saying yesterday’s #SanDiego shooting was on Passover,” she said.
As for what President Trump had to say of the Passover attack, Conway told Tapper, “He called it a hate crime, I think before the officials had in California. And we have to speak out about it; we have to be honest about it, and we have to condemn hate in all of its forms.”
