FBI Raid of Mar-a-Lago Home Boosting ‘Martyr’ Trump, Top Liberal Claims

The FBI raid of President Trump’s home last week has actually given him a political popularity boost; he was starting to lose the Republican Party’s leadership to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

That is according to old-school liberal Bill Maher, who declared this on his HBO show as he offered his own interpretation of the event that jolted American politics.

Trump Had Started to Lose, Liberal Pundit Insists

More than 30 FBI agents ransacked President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Springs, Florida for about 10 hours on Monday. They were reportedly seeking government documents that Trump may have taken after leaving the White House in January 2021.

While the FBI raid on Trump’s mansion caused the leftist crowd to become ecstatic and overjoyed, it has been universally denounced by Republican politicians, conservative pundits, and right-wing voters.

Liberal comedian and HBO talk show host Bill Maher, however, came up with an alternative “liberal” point of view on the federal government’s onslaught against President Trump.

Maher made it clear on the latest episode of his show, Real Time, that he is convinced the feds did Trump a favor. The ransacking of Trump’s home gave him a political boost when – at least according to the comedian – he’d been starting to lose his position.

Maher, who bills himself as an old-school liberal, has become somewhat popular with conservative viewers over the past couple of years.

Maher is frequently speaking out with severe criticism against the growing excesses of far-left progressivism.

DeSantis Will Now Face ‘President Martyr’ For 2024 GOP Nomination

In his latest show episode on Friday, Bill Maher, at first, made fun of both Trump and the FBI raid. Later, he got into a serious tone, blasting the feds’ operation as a tremendous political asset for the former president.

According to Maher, all the incident is going to achieve is turning Trump into a “presidential martyr,” thus substantially reinforcing his chances at launching a successful campaign.

Maher painted way too apocalyptic a picture of the pre-FBI raid Trump, which may or may not correspond to the reality at the time.

The liberal comedian argued before the FBI raid, Trump’s “fortune was finally falling.” Maher said Trump’s insistence on what the left calls “the Big Lie” was losing momentum.

Maher also claimed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis started to “beat” Trump in the polls, which is why DeSantis “hates” the FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago more than anyone else.

According to the HBO host, Florida’s governor may have already had the 2024 presidential nomination “in the bag.” Now, because of the FBI operation, DeSantis will have to face “President Martyr” to get the nomination.

Overall, the liberal comedian said the ransacking of Trump’s home by the feds may have seemed “necessary” to Biden’s Justice Department; however, it has gotten out of hand because it became so heavily politicized.

Maher ended up wondering whether anything discovered by the FBI in Trump’s home would “justify this raid.” If it doesn’t, Maher argued, the consequences will turn into a “political nightmare.”

He was pretty clear, however, in emphasizing the giant wave of support that Trump received by a mobilized Republican Party and its electorate because of the feds’ search.
