Elon Musk’s Twitter Crackdown? Michael Knowles Suspended For Posting Bible Verse

Twitter suspended Daily Wire anchor Michael Knowles after he posted a Biblical scripture in reaction to the latest school massacre in Nashville, Tennessee.

The suspension seems to be part of a larger assault on conservative accounts that oppose or hint at the “Day of Vengeance” planned by the Trans Radical Action Network for April 1, only days after the incident in Nashville.

Extremists

Knowles sent a link to a Daily Wire piece on the matter and referenced Romans 12:19, which warns Christians against taking personal vengeance.

Twitter asked Knowles to remove the message, citing its policy against posting harassing or abusive content. Knowles was provided with a link that allowed him to delete the post.

Matt Walsh, a co-host of The Daily Wire, tweeted a screenshot of the punishment, tagging Elon Musk, the new CEO of Twitter, and noted that Knowles was punished for tweeting a Bible passage.

The accounts of other conservative personalities, like Daily Wire News, Federalist Leader Sean Davis, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, have all been blocked in past days for making comparable allusions to the “Day of Vengeance.”

In the incident in Nashville, a 28-year-old transgender woman killed three educators and three children aged nine at The Covenant School, which is affiliated with the conservative, evangelical Covenant Presbyterian Church.

The shooter carried out a “targeted attack” and left a manifesto, as confirmed by the police.

Freedom of Expression?

The suspending of Knowles and other accounts follows closely on the heels of the suspension of Daily Wire investigative reporter Luke Rosiak for providing a link to his original piece on “Day of Vengeance.”

Knowles also shared the following essay authored by Rosiak. Rosiak got the same warning on Twitter’s rules regarding abusive material and harassment and was instructed to erase the original post in order to restore access to his account.

He has lodged an appeal and slammed Twitter for permitting the Trans Radical Activist Network to publicize its event while suppressing criticism.

Last year, Elon Musk assumed ownership of Twitter with the declared intention of restoring free expression to the network. Though, he has also shown a readiness to delete what he considers to be extremist information submitted by far-right and far-left users.
