Elon Musk has announced his support for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the 2024 presidential election. Musk’s support of DeSantis means another setback for Trump, who was already struggling to maintain his popularity among voters.
DeSantis Gets Major Boost for Potential Presidential Run
In his tweet on Friday, Musk noted he prefers a sensible, moderate candidate for the 2024 presidential election. Furthermore, Musk asserted he had the same expectations of the Biden administration, but he has been disappointed by them so far.
After this tweet, one person asked Musk if he would support DeSantis in 2024, to which Musk answered yes. DeSantis is expected to be a major competitor of Trump in 2024, but he has not announced his candidacy yet.
Musk also stated he voted for Biden in the 2020 presidential election since he had a lot of expectations from him. Furthermore, Musk revealed he remained a prominent supporter of the Obama-Biden administration over the years.
After getting disappointed by Democrats, Musk announced a vote for Republicans earlier this year.

This is not the first time Musk is extending his support to DeSantis. In June, Musk noted he was inching toward supporting DeSantis in the 2024 presidential election, adding the Florida governor will easily defeat Biden in the presidential election.
The multi-billionaire businessman also claimed that Twitter would remain an equal platform for everyone, irrespective of their political ideology.

Trump Getting More Isolated?
Musk’s announcement is likely to be a major loss for Trump, who was already losing the support of many Republicans after announcing his 2024 presidential campaign.
Multiple polls are indicating more voters now support DeSantis over Trump for the 2024 election, which means Musk’s support will further help DeSantis strengthen his lead over the former president.
Reportedly, many veteran Republican campaign strategists and donors have already refused to support Trump for the next election; so Musk’s decision will further worsen the situation of the former president.
After the midterm elections, DeSantis impressed many Republicans since he completely turned Florida into a red state. However, Trump faced Republicans’ backlash as most of his candidates either lost their elections or won by an extremely narrow margin, compared to other GOP candidates.
In addition to that, Musk also claimed on Friday that he is fine with Trump not tweeting on his recently reinstated account.
According to Musk, the previous leadership of Twitter made a grave mistake by banning Trump’s account even though the former president did not violate the terms and conditions of the platform.
Meanwhile, many left-leaning political observers recommended Apple and Google ban Twitter apps from their respective stores after seeing free speech on the platform.
Musk warned both Apple and Google against taking such an extremist step, adding that he would develop his own smartphone if the Twitter app is banned on the existing platforms.
