Democrat Beto O’Rourke Enters Texas Gubernatorial Election

Many Americans have heard of Texas Democrat Beto O’Rourke. Back in 2018, O’Rourke ran to become a Texas senator, yet he faced a handy defeat at the hands of current Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz.

Not long afterward, O’Rourke entered the 2020 presidential election as a contender in the Democrat Party’s primary election. It was during this point O’Rourke vowed to implement mandatory buyback programs to take away Americans’ AR-15s, AK-47s, and other supposed “weapons of war.”

After dropping out of the 2020 presidential election, O’Rourke is back yet again; this time, he’s running to become the next governor of Texas, as Breitbart News confirms.

Reactions to O’Rourke’s Candidacy

Texas Governor Greg Abbott did not mince words when stating where he stands on the news of O’Rourke tossing his hat into the gubernatorial Texas race. The Republican governor pointed out a series of terrible policies O’Rourke has hitched his wagon to.

These terrible policies entail gun grabs, opening the southern border, defunding law enforcement, increasing taxes, and otherwise serving as a rubber stamp for the Biden administration.

Finally, Abbott told O’Rourke to “bring it.” Should the Texas Democrat manage to make it through the Democratic primary, he will not have an easy road ahead. For one thing, the Lone Star State hasn’t let a Democrat into the governor’s mansion since 1990.

Alienating Gun Owners and More

O’Rourke’s comments about guns (and his choice to stand by these comments in announcing his candidacy for Texas governor) aren’t really doing him any favors.

Many gun owners live in Texas. As such, many of these gun owners are not pleased with O’Rourke’s support for gun grabs and mandatory buybacks. The Texas Democrat has also proven to be highly antagonistic towards the National Rifle Association and Second Amendment support in general.

Like other Democrats, O’Rourke has made it very clear he will enforce and work to advance Biden’s agenda. This is an agenda that’s already had devastating impacts on the lives of many workers, less than one year into Biden’s term.

Already, Governor Abbott released a short clip on social media alluding to this. In the clip, O’Rourke’s image is seen fading in and out with Joe Biden’s. This clip is also captioned with the declaration of “Wrong for Texas. Wrong for America.”

Other Texas Republicans, such as House GOP Rep. Dan Crenshaw, have stated O’Rourke doesn’t stand a chance. In a recent social media post, Crenshaw declared the Texas Democrat must have a fondness for losing elections.
