Liberals are on a warpath.
As Americans learned earlier this year, the latest goal of the Democrats is to get access to President Trump’s tax returns. This new goal resurfaced after Mueller wrapped up his newly two-year long Russia investigation and announced that the president will not face any indictments.
The push for President Trumps’ tax returns is going to be more complicated than the left might have anticipated. This is especially true in light of the fact that Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin isn’t particularly eager to fork over the president’s tax returns, as documented by Townhall.
Everything You Need to Know
The liberal-controlled House and Ways Means Committee requested access to President Trump’s tax returns yet again. However, Treasury Secretary Mnuchin informed the Democrats that there are “serious issues” involved with their eagerness to get ahold of the aforementioned tax returns. Specifically, Mnuchin noted the perils of individuals who seek to gain critical documents for political reasons.
His statements on the matter read as follows:
“The Committee’s request raises serious issues concerning the constitutional scope of Congressional investigative authority, the legitimacy of the asserted legislative purpose, and the constitutional right of American citizens. The legal implications of this request could affect protections for all Americans against politically motivated disclosures of personal tax information, regardless of which party is in power.”
Richard Neal, the chairman of the House and Ways Means Committee, wrote back to Munchin yesterday. In Neal’s letter, he claimed that Mnuchin’s concerns about the matter “lack any merit.”
Sure. As if anybody is buying that.
Political Motivations Behind the Push for Tax Returns
Anyone with half a brain knows that the push for the president’s tax returns is politically motivated. It’s politically motivated because Democrats want Trump to be guilty. We saw this throughout the duration of Mueller’s Russia probe. When that failed to yield the results which liberals wanted, they then turned to Trump’s tax returns.
For Richard Neal to openly profess that there are no political motivations behind the Democrats’ push for the president’s tax returns is so downright absurd that it’s laughable.
