Like many Americans, Fox News contributor Dan Bongino has had it up to here with Congress’ refusal to address and fix the issues which are currently underway at the United States Southern border.
During Bongino’s time on air, he urged Congress to place political differences aside and do the right thing when it comes to the Southern border crisis. Thus far, this is something which Congress has failed at doing. Only time will tell whether they rise to the occasion and do what the American people elected them to do.
Reviewing Bongino’s Appeal to Congress
Bongino stated that the issues at the Southern border goes beyond politics and should be a matter that both Republicans and Democrats focus their attention towards. Additionally, the contributor noted that there is a reason why certain individuals feel compelled to risk their lives and the lives of their children in order to sneak across the Southern border.
In Bongino’s own words:
“Why can’t these politicians get together and say to themselves, ‘what is causing parents to put their kids in danger to do this? ‘Just fix it. Get your heads out of your collective butts and fix the damn thing!”
He also stated that different asylum laws and leeway provided to individuals who do breach immigration laws tend to motivate other migrants to illegally enter the United States.
The Two-Week Deadline
President Trump is giving Congress precisely two weeks to come together and put forth a solution for the issues which currently plague the Southern border. If Congress is unable to do this, then the president will revert to his original plans of ICE-enforced deportations of illegal immigrants. It’s quite unfortunate that Congress has struggled so much with doing their jobs and tackling a very real issue which impacts America on multiple fronts.
Over the weekend, the president tweeted about the leniency which he is providing to Congress:
Only time will tell whether or not Congress steps up and fixes the issues at the Southern border.
