Several social media users voiced their disapproval after President Biden echoed the statement, “There’s no such thing as someone else’s child” during a White House event on Monday.
Biden Emphasizes Responsibility for Children at Teacher Celebration
The president delivered his speech at the National and State Teacher of the Year Celebration, where he paid tribute to the award winner, Oklahoma high school educator Rebekah Peterson.
While commending the teacher, he quoted Peterson, appearing to concur with her assertion that “there is no such thing as someone else’s child.”
Biden elaborated, “Rebecca encapsulated a teacher’s belief in her words: ‘There is no such thing as someone else’s child.’ Indeed, there is no such thing. The children of our nation are collectively our responsibility.”
He continued, “As I frequently emphasize, you, the teachers, hold the power to raise our national aspirations. Truly, you do. Just envision the challenges we would face without exceptional educators in our country. You are the architects of our future.”

James Lindsay, a prominent political podcaster, vehemently condemned a specific perspective, exclaiming, “The left presumes it possesses your offspring. Challenge this story. Ridicule it like when this buffoon proclaimed it was time for ‘harmony’ (solely on Democratic Party conditions).”
Lindsay’s statement underscores his disapproval of the notion that the left views children as shared property, rather than as unique individuals belonging to their respective families.
Akin to this, Vice President Kamala Harris faced a barrage of criticism in October when she alluded to the nation’s younger generation as “our children” during a spirited exchange with late-night talk show luminary Seth Meyers.
