Biden’s Endorsement Power Hits a Snag

During this year’s midterm elections, many Americans determined that Joe Biden was more of a liability to his party than an asset. This was seen as various Democrats in tight elections moved to distance themselves from Biden.

Democrats Tim Ryan and Beto O’Rourke are prime examples. Although both went on to lose their elections to Republicans, Ryan and O’Rourke were clear from the start that they did not want Biden involved in their campaigns.

This time, however, there is data to back up what many Americans have already suspected. According to Breitbart News, a new poll shows that when Biden endorses someone, voters are actually less likely to throw their weight behind the candidate.

Bad News For Biden

Earlier this week, Rasmussen Reports released a poll showing that 46% of Americans aren’t as likely to support a candidate who is endorsed by Biden. On the flip side, only 28% said a Biden endorsement would increase their odds of supporting the given candidate.

24% expressed the president’s endorsement or lack thereof would not make a difference.

In this poll, the feedback from Independent voters was also very telling. 43% of Independents are less likely to support a candidate who earns the Biden endorsement.

This news arrives as Biden’s approval rating stands at a net negative for Independents and has been that way for quite some time. Plainly and simply, many Americans just do not trust this president’s judgment, especially when it comes to candidates who should be in power.

Perfect Examples Out of Florida

Americans’ overall lack of trust in endorsements from Joe Biden was put on full display in Florida.

Biden campaigned in this state for now-failed gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist and now-failed Senate candidate Val Demings. The president rallied with these two, saying they’d be amazing leaders in power.

Meanwhile, both Crist and Demings were defeated by double digits. Floridians overwhelmingly rejected these leaders, despite Biden going out of his way to stump for them.

It was not just Biden who backed these candidates. Other Democrats from across the country worked to stump for Crist and Demings. Though in the end, none of it mattered.

At this rate, many Americans are questioning Biden’s judgment and his fitness to lead. Americans are also aware that any candidates endorsed by the current president are ones who will adhere to his agenda.

This is not something that much of the country feels comfortable with, as seen in the polls. At the rate things are going, Biden’s star power will only continue to diminish.

What do you think about voters being less likely to get behind candidates who are endorsed by Joe Biden? Do you believe this trend of not trusting the president will persist? Please feel welcome to let us know in the comments area.
