Breaking from his increasingly radically far-left party, Democrat presidential hopeful John Delaney spoke out against Medicare-for-All. However, in doing so, Delaney incurred the wrath of socialist darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, as documented by Fox News.
There’s really something to be said for the fact that Medicare-for-All is such a terrible healthcare reform proposal that even certain Democrats are coming out against it.
A Closer Look at Delaney’s Statements on Medicare-for-All
While speaking before the California Democratic Convention audience, Delaney articulated his belief that Medicare-for-All sounds nice, but is “not good policy, nor good politics.” However, the 2020 Democrat hopeful also stated that he is supportive of “universal healthcare.”
In Delaney’s own words:
“We should have universal health care. We should have universal health care. We should have universal health care, but it shouldn’t be a kind of health care that kicks 150 million Americans off their health care. That’s not smart policy.”
His remarks didn’t sit well with attendees at the California Democratic Convention who booed Delaney in response:
Response from AOC
Similarly to the Democrats at the convention, House Rep. Ocasio-Cortez did not appreciate Delaney’s remarks. She made this know by requesting Delaney to “sashay away” from the race to become president of the United States.

The 2020 Presidential Election
It’s interesting that Ocasio-Cortez believes establishment or “lobbyist-backed” Democrats will kill the party’s chance of winning the 2020 election. In actuality, it is radical progressives such as herself which are bad for the Democrat Party. However, the freshman congresswoman’s thinking isn’t that far off from many progressives.
The problem with progressives is that they are simply not living in reality. The majority of Americans do not want socialism. Moreover, most people in this country do not want to be kicked off of their healthcare plans. Progressive Democrats simply don’t seem to care though and they have no qualms with demonizing anyone in their party who doesn’t bow down to them.
Quite frankly, it’s behavior like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s, not John Delaney’s, which will run the Democrat Party into the ground.
